After Emraan Hashmi, is Cousin Alia the Next Big Serial Kisser?

Actor Emraan Hashmi is more than happy to hand over his 'serial kisser' crown to counterparts as well as newcomers and feels that everyone is trying to outdo themselves each time while getting bold on-screen. (Also read: Alia Bhatt Has a Movie Date With Ranbir Kapoor)

"I think someone else should take the crown from me. By all means, give it to another boy or girl. Once you get labelled, you should spread your wings and stretch your talent. It is not easy and one has to do risky things in their career," Emraan said during a media interaction in Mumbai.

Emraan is known for his bold and intimate scenes in films like Murder, Zeher and Aashiq Banaya Aapne among others, which earned him the 'serial kisser' tag. But now in almost every film, every actor has a similar scene.

"I have passed on this (kissing tag) to others. I don't know how far they will push it and shock everyone. When we started, we felt it was a bold move and we were scared about how the film will be accepted," Emraan said.

"Today for youngsters it has become part of script, screenplay. You have to show romance, love and intimacy. I think everyone is trying to outdo themselves in kisses, which I think is ridiculous," he said.

After Student Of The Year and Two States, Emraan's younger cousin Alia Bhatt seems to have laid claim to the title after puckering up with her co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Arjun Kapoor.

Also, filmmaker Karan Johar has apparently crowned her as the kissing queen of Bollywood. Ask Emraan, if one will get to see him and Alia together in a film, he says, "It will be good if we get to play brother and sister on-screen in the film. Otherwise, I think it will be twisted."

Among the newcomers, Emraan likes Alia and admits he is biased towards her as she is family. "I would be biased to my family, so I think Alia is really good. I rarely watch Hindi films but I saw Student of the Year and I loved her in the film. She is very dedicated towards her work. She is fantastic, and a natural actress on-screen."

Emraan will be seen next in Raja Natwarlal, where he plays the role of a small-time con. Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, the film stars Pakistani actress Humaima Malick and is set to release on August 29.

Alia Bhatt Fell in Love with Shahid Kapoor at the Age of 11

Alia Bhatt, who has confirmed she has signed Vikas Bahl's Shaandar for a role with Shahid Kapoor, says she's a fan of the actor, whom she first fell in love with when she was all of 11. (Also Read: I am a Very Clumsy Human Being: Alia Bhatt)

"I'm a huge Shahid Kapoor fan. I must have been 11 years old when I went to see Shahid in Ishq Vishk at Gaiety Galaxy (in Mumbai). I've been a fan since then. He is a fabulous actor and from what I hear, a very supportive co-star," Alia said.

When we asked her if Shahid was a generation removed from most of the co-stars Alia had worked with so far, she corrected that by saying, "You forget I've done Highway with Randeep Hooda. But yes, that apart, I've so far worked with actors my own age. So there was a natural comfort level with them.

"But it's not like Shahid is any different from Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor or Sidharth Malhotra. He is a very chilled-out guy. He has been around for so many years. I am sure he's a thorough professional. And I am really looking forward to working with him."

The actress, who was recently seen in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, admits there is plenty on the plate. But she isn't allowed to speak about them all yet. She is, however, excited about Shaandar.

"I'm very excited. I loved his (Vikas Bahl's) Queen. And I am really looking forward to what he does in the film with me," said the Highway actress.

Shaandar is to be shot in an undisclosed part of England later this year. Bahl's last film, the much-lauded Queen had been shot in Paris, one of Alia's favourite cities where she got a chance to holiday recently.

"I am very excited about this film. It's something I haven't done so far. I want to work with every major actor," she said.

Alia Bhatt: I am a Very Clumsy Human Being

Bollywood's young star Alia Bhatt put up a confident front while walking a three-ramp set-up in a lehenga as heavy as over 20 kg, for ace designer Manish Malhotra's show at the Shree Raj Mahal Jewellers India Couture Week. She said she was nervous as she's usually clumsy.

"I get very nervous. I am not the best walker. I am a very clumsy human being, I fall (while) standing, so walking on the ramp wearing (an outfit of) almost 25 kg and high heels, looking good, posing and smiling while people are clapping. I think it's nerve wrecking, but I think it's the best two minutes," Alia told reporters here post the show.

With minimalist make-up, a roughly done-up hairdo and no jewellery, Alia carried the red bridal wear couture outfit, adorned by vintage gold embroidery, with aplomb Saturday night.

Adding more Bollywood flavour on the ramp was Aashiqui 2 actor Aditya Roy Kapur, while off the stage and in the audience were names like Urmila Matondkar and Huma Qureshi.

Alia is fresh out of tasting success with her latest Hindi film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, in which her character is hell-bent on getting a lehenga worn by Kareena Kapoor in a film. Here, she was happy that in real life, she was getting a chance to walk for Manish Malhotra, who is one of Bollywood's favourite designers and has been responsible to lend a makeover to many of Hindi cinema's heroines.

"I think when you're walking in a Manish Malhotra outfit, it's a big day. It's a special day. I was telling someone that I am very happy that my film has done well, but I'm happier to be walking for Manish. It's a great achievement," Alia said.

She also recalled a time when she was in the audience for a Manish Malhotra show.

She told, "I was here two years back and Katrina (Kaif) was walking the ramp. I was sitting in the audience with Karan (Johar) and was thinking, 'How do people walk?'

"I remember Katrina was sitting and her outfit looked heavy. I had no idea then how heavy it was but when you walk yourself, you realise how heavy it is. But it's beautiful, I loved it," she added.

Alia Bhatt Has a Movie Date With Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor acts, Ayan Mukerji directs, Karan Johar produces. So what's new? The answer - and it's guaranteed to thrill many a male heart - is Alia Bhatt, most wanted among Bollywood's Generation Now.

Filmmaker and Dharma Productions boss Karan Johar announced via Twitter on July 22 that Ranbir and Alia have been cast as the newest jodi.

No further details of the project were released by the producer.

This will be director Ayan's third film after Wake Up Sid (2009) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2014), both of which featured his close friend Ranbir in the lead roles.

This will also be the third Karan Johar production for four-film-old Alia Bhatt, after Student Of The Year, 2 States and the recent Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Alia Bhatt: It Helps to be Thick-Skinned in Bollywood

All of 21, she's young and versatile unlike others of her generation. Even in terms of dealing with criticism Highway star Alia Bhatt has a mature approach. She says being "thick-skinned" comes in handy.
"Criticism and appreciation should be welcome at all times. But it helps to be thick-skinned in the industry," Alia told IANS over phone from Mumbai when asked how she reacts and handles situations when the audience gives extreme reactions to her work.

Nonchalant about the feedback she receives, Alia took to online instant messaging and video chat platform Google Hangout on the evening of July 25 to interact with her fans from Mumbai and Delhi to talk about beauty trends for the season as part of her association with make-up brand Maybelline New York.

She found the idea to be "fun".

"We go to different cities all the time to promote our films, but having a virtual interaction via Hangout is different. Technology has made it fun and easy to interact with the audience for feedback on any product - whether it's a film or a product - as they're the ones we work for," Alia said.

The actress is very active on social networking platform Twitter, where she interacts with her 1.8 million followers.

She is not on Facebook, but when asked if she has a team to manage her Twitter account, she was quick to clarify: "I don't have a team. I manage the account on my own."

Alia admits "digital is a massive space" to explore, but she says "it's important to not get lost in it".

"I feel there has to be a line that you draw between your life and the virtual world," said the actress, who is the youngest daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

After making an impressive debut with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year, Alia has been surprising viewers and critics alike with wonderful performances movie after movie.

If she played a brand-conscious, make-up laden and arrogant girl in her debut, Alia left a lasting impression with her powerful act in Highway as a city-slick girl who experiences a sense of freedom and gets a taste of reality only after being abducted.

This was followed by her easy portrayal of the fun-loving, carefree and Tamilian girl-in-love with a Punjabi boy in 2 States. Alia has recently also amassed appreciation for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania in which she has essayed the role of a fearless girl, who fights to live life her way.

From ultra-glamorous to deglam and desi - Alia has sported different looks in each of her films, but she says "it's too soon" for her to set "fashion trends".

Her association with showbiz notwithstanding, she says "girls have a right on make-up", but she personally does not like to preach any style or fashion mantra.
